Help Stephanie Mains thru Surgery and recovery
Donation protected
Hello everyone! My name is Beverley and I am fundraising for my friend Stephanie Mains. Last Wednesday night she was just innocently retrieving something from her car and when she turned to walk away her foot slipped on the ice and she fell heavily with her leg under her. She knew as soon as she tried to get up that her ankle was broken as it was twisted at an unusual angle, and she bravely crawled into the camper she has been living in since losing her home. She located her phone and was able to call for help. Her daughter, Amy, called the ambulance, and friend Denise and Denise's son Robbie stayed with her until the ambulance came. Her other daughter, Amber, and her husband rushed right over to help as well and went to the hospital to be with her.
At the hospital they found out that she had three breaks in her ankle and both bones in her lower leg were also broken.
With the severity of the breaks she will need surgery and the recovery time will be long. She will not be able to work for quite awhile and won't have any income to pay for any of her obligations. She has been just scraping by since breaking up with her boyfriend of fourteen years, and has been living in a free camper that we have fixed up a bit, on land she has rented as there were no rentals she could afford.
Stephanie tries hard not to have to rely on others, at the same time giving much of her time to her friends, family and special cause of helping feral cats and helping low income people afford to get their cats spayed or neutered. For 10 years she has helped in communities all over Maine to neuter and spay 1000's of cats, donating much of her time without asking for any reimbursement or only accepting a small amount which she donates to take care of the cats in the sanctuary, doing without much herself.
So I am imploring anyone who sees this Go Fund Me to please help her during this time to try to alleviate much of her worries about her expenses so she can concentrate on healing during this long road back and hopefullly be back to her normal self alot faster. The road back will be painful and frustrating for someone who is always just doing.
My greatest thanks to everyone who is willing to help, no matter what the amount.
