Help an Autistic Trans Woman find a Safe Home

Hello everyone, please let me introduce Stella.
Stella is a 19-year-old trans woman desperate to move from her home state of Florida to Port Angeles, Washington. Florida has become a hostile political and social environment for queer and trans people, and instances of violence against trans women are on the rise. Devastatingly, 2021 was “the deadliest year for transgender people” in the USA on record (Human Rights Campaign, 2021). This danger is significantly increased in states like Florida, where the “Don’t Say Gay or Trans” bill was passed just a few months ago. In Florida, Stella is unable to secure safe employment as a trans woman, and has no access to transition resources or medical support, which are critical for her survival.
This GoFundMe hopes to raise some very needed savings for Stella to start her vibrant life as a young adult with a few months of security.
Stella hopes to move to Port Angeles to find safety, and begin to build a life for herself. Port Angeles has better support and medical care for trans people and has significantly lower incidences of trans violence. There, Stella would be able to begin her young adult life with a safe job and living space, and access to the transition resources and medical care she deserves. We are looking to raise enough money to cover a few months of living expenses and essential furniture items so that Stella has some time to look for a job to support herself.
Stella has built a community of friends and loved ones in Victoria, BC, and she would like to live in Port Angeles to be closer to that support network. Stella hopes to work and save up some money to one day apply to a university in Canada.
We will do anything to help Stella! Starting your adult life in a new city with no family support is scary, and we want to make sure that Stella can have a supportive start to living independently. Please consider donating to our campaign to support Stella in this new phase of life!
