Help Steph fight to stay connected with her girls
Donation protected
Stephany has been in a court battle regarding her girls since her twin daughters were born in 2011.
In 2014, due to Stephany being arrested, they were taken from her & placed with their grandmother in California.
In 2015, Stephany got sober from all drugs & alcohol & tried to maintain as much contact with her girls as possible. Until one day, their grandmother stopped responding to Stephany.
In 2017-2018, Stephany was told that her rights had been terminated & that the girls had already been adopted by their grandmother.
At that moment, Stephany felt that she had no choice but to make peace that she may never see her girls until they turned 18 & started asking questions.
Until 2020...She received letters from the courts asking her to start paying child support. She began asking questions & her father hired an attorney to get answers.
The court ended up ordering weekly phone visits with her girls & for the first time since 2015, she could hear her daughter's voices again.
Shortly after the phone visits began, Stephany was told that the girls needed to be adopted in order to benefit from their grandmother's retirement.
She was also told that the girls wanted to be adopted & were begging her to make it happen. Stephany flew out to California to meet with the case worker & finish signing her rights over. After all, if it's what the girls wanted, how could she stand in the way of that?
In 2022, for the first time since 2014, Stephany was able to have physical contact with the girls & learned that everything she & the girls had been told was based on lies & manipulation.
Her girls told her they did not want to be adopted & that they wanted to live with her & visit their grandma like the old days.
When Stephany got back from California, she immediately contacted the case worker & submitted a refusal for adoption.
We are now trying to raise funds to help Stephany pay for an attorney in order to maintain contact or even get it to where the girls can come back & live with their natural mother.
This has been a VERY expensive battle for Stephany, costing close to $80,000 in attorney fees alone over the course of 11 years.
We are hoping to raise at least $15,000 to help her get the ball rolling on legal representation for her to keep her rights.
Anything donated will help more than you know.
