Help Stephanie Buckles Battle Cancer!

Hi, my name is Brenda Rother Schiro and my cousin, Stephanie Buckles, is battling for her life. Stephanie is a mom, grandmother, wife, friend, recent caretaker to our beloved grandmother before she passed, and a very special soul to all of the children she has taken care of over the years. 

In November of 2023, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. It all started with a cough that caused her hip to hurt. She went to doctor after doctor until she was taken serious and had a Pet Scan done. Unfortunately, it lit up in many areas including her lungs, brain, liver, spine, hip, femur, female organs…she has lesions throughout her entire body. They have caused her to become immobile and she is currently wheelchair bound. After seeing her oncologist and pulmonologist, a plan of attack has been put in place and she is receiving radiation and chemo in Oklahoma City on a regular basis. Some positive news is the lesions are reacting to the treatments and her immobility has slightly improved. 

Her husband, Wes, is on FLMA leave and is taking exceptional care of her. Since Steph is immobile, she requires round the clock care. God has equipped him for this job and we are all so grateful for his amazing care of her. 

Stephanie has had a positive attitude since being diagnosed. I was fortunate enough to visit her during a recent hospital stay where she underwent 10 radiation treatments on her brain, hip and leg to reduce the lesions to get her walking again. She was smiling and positive…she felt good despite all she’s enduring. She is a strong 51 year old woman!

This leads me to the reason why I felt so strongly to set up this fund. Stephanie and her family will fight this battle with everything they have so we do not want them to worry about the financial hardships that come with taking time off of work, necessary treatments, meals, and daily living expenses. They need all their energy to go towards fighting this battle.
