Hi my name is Melissa Carter and I’m fundraising for Alayna Delaughter and her family.

Alayna is a beautiful 10 year old, 5th grader. She is one of the kindest little girls you could ever meet. She loves God, her family, her friends, her church and everyone around her in between. She loves being a big sister and loves being with her MawMaw and PaPa. Her mom (Stephanie), dad (DJ), sister (Ryleigh), MawMaw (Donna) and PaPa (Bobby) have been back and forth constantly from Natchez to Jackson to make sure her every need is tended to, as well as caring for their sweet toddler. Alayna was admitted on Monday, January 9th to Children’s Hospital in Jackson, Ms. The doctors knew it was anemia and an acute kidney injury. They were sent home Wednesday after wonderful news with hopes that was the end of the journey. On Thursday, January 12th, they were sent back to Jackson and admitted to PICU In Batson’s Children’s Hospital. At first it presented as double pneumonia with an acute kidney injury. The doctors were quick to begin testing on her to figure out what was wrong. Her case has really turned heads. So far she has seen teams of PICU doctors, nephrology, surgeons, rheumatologists, pulmonologists, cardiologists and many more. She has had multiple teams working hard to diagnose her and to treat her. After multiple tests, scans and procedures they discovered she has a very rare autoimmune disorder called Anti-Glomerular Basement Membrane (Good Pasture Syndrome). This is autoimmune disorder is a form of vasculitis that attacks the lungs and kidneys and causes them to destroy the blood vessels. She also has parainfluenza type 4. Whether the two are related, possible, but we may never know. Alayna has been on multiple levels of oxygen, bipap, the ventilator, oscillator and ecmo. She has received chemotherapy drugs, high dose steroids and plasmapheresis. She will be undergoing a bronchoscopy as well to remove any large amounts of blood from her lungs. She will also undergo a kidney biopsy to determine the level of damage to her kidneys. She is beginning with OT and will eventually need other types of therapy. The family appreciates ALL of your prayers. They feel God’s presence and know that He will use this to glorify His name! We ask that you continue to pray for Alayna each and every day!
