Steve and Ginny Ferren Fund

Donation protected
Steven and Virginia(Ginny) Ferren are very dear, lifelong friends of ours. In January Steve had a stroke that landed him in Albany Med for a while. Once he was finally released, Steve still had a long road of recovery and Dr appointments to manage. He continues to struggle and face medical challenges, however has recently returned to work with Ginny by his side doing what he can, about 4 hrs a day. Understandably, this has created great financial stress on them. That is why I am doing this. Their need at the moment is more than anyone of us can provide however, together we can do more than individually apart.
Steve and Ginny have always worked hard to make ends meet. They are modest people who live a simple life. Their lives have been filled with joys and also tragedies. Their son James suffered from a congenital illness that would eventually take his life after years of loving hands on care provided by Steve and Ginny to keep him home. A few years later they would lose another son, Michael, when he was stuck by a car walking just a short distance from their home. There is no loss like the loss of a child, some days it is hard to even get out of bed, other days the grief comes out of nowhere and smacks you down to your knees. Time does not heal these wounds, they are always there, just under the surface. However, Steve and Ginny did get up and they went to work hanging sheetrock, taping and sanding and finishing jobs from modest apartments to spectacular homes. Some years were harder than others but somehow through team work and faith in friends and family they persevered and made ends meet. The loss of James and Michael were not the only losses suffered, others intermingled over the years with Steve losing a brother and a sister, his mother and his dear grandmother, GiGi who he loved with his entire heart and soul. Then Ginny recently lost a brother to cancer.
Steve and Ginny have always been people to help friends in need. They are people who would give their last meal to someone who was hungry. They have opened their home many times over the years to friends and family who were in need of a place to stay for a day or week or a month. At one point in our lives, Steve and I were homeless and they let us stay with them until we got on our feet and found a little apartment to live in. There has never been a time in my life that I have not known Steve and Ginny….we all grew up together. You can only imagine the fun we used to have when all 8 of our children their 4 boys and our 4 girls would all be together causing a raucous. What any of us wouldn’t give to go back to have all 8 of them together again. Now there are 5. We celebrated amazing joyous occasions and we suffered unspeakable tragedies and grief together. They have always been there for us. When we lost our Kristen, they were there to talk, to listen and give us a place to escape when we wanted to run away and hide from the world. Ginny holding my hand and telling me “you are going to be ok Mama” . They are the true meaning of what friendship is.
I am asking you to help me help my friends get back on their feet and feel proud and no shame in getting back some of what they have given out for so many years. Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you for reading this long post. I hope it has given you just a little insight of the people we are trying to help. Thank you
