Help Steve and Kathy Replace Their Burnt Home
Donation protected
Steve Summerday and Kathy Kali's family was recently burnt out of their home.
They had a modest but very nice mobile home in the Ashland, Oregon area. They had less than 30 minutes warning to throw a few possessions in one car. Kathy spent this precious time furiously banging on neighbor's doors to ensure they all got out, while she watched the park and her own home burst into flames. She got almost nothing out.
The family is safe now. After a sleepless night in a very over-crowded car, they were taken in by a friend. But now begins the herculean task of rebuilding. While they had insurance, it is not enough, and it will be weeks or months before they receive a check.
The family's income stream has been interrupted. In addition to not having a home to work from, they are spending most of their time helping the low income residents in the neighborhood and those who did not have insurance to connect with resources, find missing pets, and make decisions regarding their future.
The immediate needs are for assistance for them to get into temporary housing, and for a new work truck for Steve to be able to work.
We estimate it will cost $10,000 for a new (used) work truck or van, and another $10,000 for 5 months of temporary housing. Small donations of $10 or $20 are useful and appreciated. Any funds not used for their immediate needs will be given to neighbors who are more in need.
Please help these wonderful people, and their kids, get back onto their feet.
