Help Steve Fight Cancer!
On behalf of Steve Brewer, we are reaching out to anyone who can offer some help. Steve was diagnosed with a glioblastoma tumor in July. Initially, Steve went into the hospital with paralysis on the right side of his body and was diagnosed with a stroke. He was discharged and wound up back in the hospital a few weeks later with similar and worse symptoms. He was again diagnosed with a stroke. Several weeks later from there, his condition worsened and he began to experience symptoms of Hydrocephalus and Aphasia. Steve went back to the hospital, this time a new location that immediately diagnosed a brain tumor. This location also indicated that the previous hospital misdiagnosed Steve, twice, and that the issue was always the rapidly growing tumor. A biopsy was conducted immediately and the results came back as Glioblastoma. Weeks elapsed, critical weeks for his health and survival, wasted on a misdiagnosis. Twice.
Since being diagnosed, Steve was admitted to a physical rehabilitation hospital and began radiation and chemotherapy treatments to fight this disease. He has battled back and fought to regain control of his body and speech. He was completely unable to speak following the third admittance to the hospital. Putting words together was near impossible, but Steve fought to find the strength to speak and move. His speech and strength to move are still very limited and weak, but he has overcome adversity and is on the right track to get even better. He recently completed surgery for a shunt to be placed inside of his body to assist with the radiation and chemotherapy.
Today, we are asking for anyone who knows Steve Brewer to help. The medical bills are piling up, costs of care and food alone are skyrocketing. Not to mention, his mouth is paralyzed and he cannot swallow properly, which causes him to need a special thick liquid to drink so he doesn't choke. The company he works for has stopped his short-term disability payments and now there is no income at all. Please, if you can spare anything at all to help Steve recover and fight this disease, we would be eternally grateful. This man has worked his entire life, 6 days, 72 hours a week, for 35 years to support his family. He has never taken a vacation. He has tirelessly fought to do his best and provide for his family. We have pooled all of our resources and it just isn't enough. That is why we have turned to Go Fund Me.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for anything you can offer, even if it's just a thought in your mind for him. He's a wonderful person and does not deserve this.
