today ….Steve told me as I tended to his wounds - “this isn’t my comeback baby”. struggling to look at himself in the mirror. DISCLAIMER: GRAPHIC IMAGES: Hello again, I don’t even know where to begin. I am taking a few moments to update all of you because I have received so many calls texts and messages asking about Steve and what they can do to help. I am so overwhelmed, numb and in shock. On Wednesday, we were E-biking, it's what we try to do daily. We have all the safety equipment and use hand signals and mostly stay off the roads. A car did not have a blinker on coming towards us on a two-way road, I thought he was turning because it looked like he was slowing up a bit but still no turn signal and I thought he saw Steve. I saw him continuing to turn and I knew Steve was there. I yelled and they both hit brakes causing Steve to go over the handlebars, face first into the pavement. From what I saw I call it a miracle because his feet were in the air while his face was looking forward. The E-bike over top of him broke the seat and visor of his helmet. I truly thought with the amount of blood and what I saw it wouldn’t be good. I waited in the Family room of the ER Trauma and prayed. I reached out to all of you and requested prayer. I believe in its power. Steve currently requires round-the-clock care and we cannot afford home health care. I promise to update everyone with more details as things progress. We are facing daily challenges but together as we have done. We will recover. This time it’s a bit different and he is not able to do much at this time. Here is a summary of Steve’s extensive injuries following his horrific bicycle accident. Pending multiple plastic surgery and trauma team consultations it will be a lengthy recovery. Severe displaced fractures of the nasal bones, both sides Fractures of the frontal sinus and right orbit (eye socket) Fracture of the hard palate and maxillary sinus Fracture of 2nd premolar right maxillary in right jaw, submandibular space. Multiple microfractures, right wrist. Sprained Neck Shoulder and general body aches Steve was just getting back to healthy active status and was about to make some much-needed appearances and was SO excited about his comeback. As Steve shared with you before, he has no income from Slap Shot or the NHL, and his appearances have been his only income other than Social Security. Steve was just beginning to start earning money to pay for the cancer medical bills and now, I do not know what to do. We were able to survive and pay for monthly bills, food and travel expenses associated with the cancer treatment with the support of all of you through Steve’s cancer and now, I am asking, once more, if you can find it in your hearts to help again. We are so thankful for your continued support, and I am asking, with a grateful heart that he is alive, and have a hopeful spirit, for your help again. Steve is at his lowest, and I have near my breaking point. We desperately need your support and prayers. We will continue to look forward to sharing how we overcame this and will be thanking God for his power of prayer and sharing his love with everyone. Thank you, Vicki Carlson, on behalf of Steve Carlson
