Help Steve Kagay Fight Cancer
Hi! As some of you may know, my uncle, who is a husband and father of nine, Steve Kagay, has been battling liver cancer since January. What started off as cold symptoms at the beginning of the year, quickly worsened, and after admission to the hospital, Steve learned that he was not only battling Covid-19 pneumonia but that he also had inoperable Stage IIIB liver cancer.
After having to wait weeks for a negative Covid test, Steve met with doctors from MD Anderson in Houston, TX. In March, he began Immunotherapy treatment at KU Med in Topeka, KS. Three months of this treatment have shown success at shrinking the main tumor but a secondary, portal vein tumor is now occluding his vein. The doctors believe that the most promising course of action is immediate radiation through a clinical trial in Houston at MD Anderson. Steve will be traveling there for the next three weeks to begin this treatment and we are all optimistic.
While Steve does have Medicare, the out-of-pocket cost of treatment and travel will add up to around $25,000 just for this year. I am asking for prayers and for your generosity to help let Steve focus on healing and not the expenses involved with the treatment. On top of providing for his large family, he has been such a giving person to his community, always willing to lend a helping hand and volunteer his time.
I thank you in advance and you will all be in my prayers!
Sincerely,
Bernadette Feierabend
