Hi I am writing this to ask if people could help out an awesome bloke i met a few years ago called Steve When i first met it was through mutual friends they told me Steve had just been diagnosed with Leukaemia and as i had already been through treatment for Leukaemia it was suggested we meet to chat about the road he had ahead of him for treatment but Steve had already had a hard slog of hardship in life and obviously didn't need to be dealing with Cancer due to an unfortunate accident he was in a wheelchair and had no immune system anyway to deal with his Cancer treatment ahead but his story and hardships on how he ended up in a wheelchair and what he had endured already would make any grown man cry to hear it in detail so i will be brief as possible in telling Steve's story

His story began as a dream was to live in North Queensland he's a plumber by trade and living in Victoria he worked hard and saved enough money to finally move to Clifton Beach, North of Cairns with his 2 boys and wife purchasing a house not far from the beach and it seemed his dreams in life were finally coming true he had only lived in his new house a couple of weeks when on a family bbq outing at the beach nearby Steve decided to take a swim in the ocean to cool down and thsts when he dove into a shallow sand bar and broke his neck thus making him a Quadriplegic with linited arm movements
Immediately after the accident he could not get a flight to specialist in Brisbane and traction realialigning of his spine could not be done properly as there were no specialists nor proper equipment to deal with his injury in Cairns then during rehab he had a fall and damaged his shoulder and that shoulder is now permanently damaged later on when i met him he was diagnosed with cancer and his body had very little immunity for him to get through treatment sue to his spinal injury.
Shortly after the accident his wife left him as she found his health situation too hard to deal with and now he currently needs a carer alot of the time and his boys have grown up and have had to move away for work and he doesn't want to be a burden on them anyway cos thats the bloke he is .He wants his kids to get on with life as best they can

He has reluctantly agreed to let me start this Gofundme fundraiser and the money we are hoping to raise is for Steve is to get him a van such as a second hand handicapped ex taxi vehicle so Steve can get around more easily as he has to wait around for public transport to get about to make Doctors appointments and shopping etc and at the moment he is often waiting along time in the hot tropical sun in Nth Queensland and his body struggles to thermoregulate in warmer temperatures and this can in fact kill him if his body overheats so a vehicle would help him immensely to get about and live life a little more and maybe even take the odd day trips around Cairns with friends and carers being able to drive him around anything extra in the Gofundme fundraiser would go towards possibly getting him an Allterrain wheelchair as he is passionate about nature and has often become stuck and needing assistance to get out of situations even in his backyard when the wheels on his current wheelchair get bogged in our wet season high rainfalls and if he doesn't stay on hard paths and roads he has been on his own when this has happened and he can be waiting for awhile for someone to arrive after he has to call up friends for assistance
As his passion in the past was being outdoors camping and fishing etc he would love the opportunity to get some campfire smoke back into his lungs and spend a night camping as it is his ultimate dream to do this again but first we need a vehicle at a possible cost of $40k anything else is a bonus like an Allterrain wheelchair $30k and some camping gear we can sort

He is a True Blue Fair Dinkum Aussie the best nicest bloke you will ever meet thats had a day in his life he wishes didnt happen and it's changed his life forever that could of happened to anyone and now the simplest things we take for granted as Aussies like camping and day trips ,campfires ,campovens are a thing of the past that he used to love so much so maybe by chipping in to help him out the good old Australian way we can bring a little bit of happiness back into his life Steve recently sent me this picture where he was craving some campfire smoke so he had placed wood underneath his kettle on the gas stove apparently he does this now and again because he misses camping so much i didnt realise he was resorting to doing this but undertand why as smell is one of the biggest invoker of memories in the human body and he's craving his past life experiences i thought i would share the picture to help understand his passion about wanting to go camping one day again

Thank you for any assistance possible it would be greatly appreciated
