Help Steven “Baba” Mahelona fight Cancer
Donation protected
Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the Mahelona ohana is facing an unfavorable and unfortunate circumstance. Steven “Baba” Mahelona, husband to Caitlin, father to three young girls: Aurelia (11), Ruby (7), and Olivia (5), and older brother of my late husband, Jesse Mahelona, an American football defensive tackle in the National Football League has been battling an aggressive form of gastric cancer in the stomach (Signet Ring Cell Adenocarcinoma).
On November 30, 2020, Baba was diagnosed with Stage 1 cancer with no sign of spread. After receiving a few treatments in Kona, he went to Oahu for a stomach removal surgery on August 2, 2021 to remove the cancerous tumor. Unfortunately, during surgery, doctors discovered that the cancer metastasized and spread throughout his abdominal wall. As a result, Baba's surgery was aborted and resulted in a Stage 4 diagnosis.
After exhausting all available options in Hawaii, Baba is determined to fight this life-threatening disease so that he may continue to provide for and help raise his daughters by seeking treatment on the mainland.
Baba and Caitlin have a small fire protection business, Fire Protection Hawaii, in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, where Baba works in the field, and Caitlin takes care of the office work. Without Baba working, the family is unable to bring in income to support their girls, as Caitlin is doing her best to help her husband in his fight against cancer and care for their young children.
I understand that every family may be fighting a battle and sincerely appreciate, from the bottom of my heart, for helping the Mahelona family battle theirs through your financial support.
Me ka mahalo piha; With a fullness of gratitude,
Brandee Lee

'A'ohe hana nui ke alu 'ia; No task is too big when done together by all.
Unsure with how much this financial burden will cost the Mahelona ohana to go to the mainland to seek treatment while raising three young girls, we're starting with a financial goal of $50,000.00.
To put this in perspective, if this request can reach 10,000 people and everyone gives $5, we could meet our goal of $50,000.00. Suppose this means giving up something today, such as your coffee, energy drink, soda, juice, or drink of choice. In that case, it will make a world of difference for the Mahelona ohana tomorrow. No amount is too small, and if you can donate more, it is graciously appreciated.
Please, share this with your ohana and friends, and ask them to share this with their ohana and friends because, "'A'ohe hana nui ke alu 'ia; No task is too big when done together by all."
If you cannot donate money, prayers, or standing in agreement with us for healing the cancer is equally appreciated.
