Help Steve's Journey for a Heart Transplant
Donation protected
Hi, my Name is Jay, I am Stephen Posner's brother. On December 14th, 2021 Steve had a massive heart attack at home with no signs prior. Steve luckily lives with me and told me that day he couldn't breathe. I immediately called 911 and within 10 minutes the paramedics were at the house. They gave him a breathing treatment, ekg and wheeled him to the ambulance. As I watched, He went into cardiac arrest and rushed him to the hospital. The paramedics to me I could not go to the hospital because of covid-19 cases on the rise. I jumped in my car and went anyway. As he was in the ER, I spoke with doctors after 4 hours and they told me the severity of the attack and could not do any surgery because of the blockage and basically his heart is done. They installed an Impella Ventricular device which is a temporary device in the hospital to pump his blood for him as his heart was working at 10%. After 4 days Intubated in the Cardio Vascular Intensive Care unit with kidney failure on dialysis,
The Cardiologist's suggested he needed a Left Ventricular assist device (LVAD) which they surgically implant into the left ventricale of the heart which pumps his blood for him. This is a temporary device to keep him alive until he gets on a list for a heart transplant. As his health care proxy and caretaker, this has put a burden on both of us as I am paying his bills along with mine with a fixed income. Steve has 2 beautiful children Jaxon (16) and Bella (13) who are devastated as he is the best father he can be. He is very much engaged in their everyday activities and coached Jaxon's soccer team as Steve loves sports. I never thought we would be in this position as most people don't, but turning to GOFUNDME seems like our only option. We appreciate in advance for any help and truly believe the Lord has guided us this far. The money raised will be spent on hospital bills, homecare, food, medications, and necessities Steve will need to get by as this is just the beginning until he receives his new heart.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to read Stephen's story. He will be on a Transplant list hopefully soon and continue to fight every day. God Bless
