Help Stormey (Parker) Kimbriel

Hi everyone! My name is Haylee Kimbriel, I'm the daughter of Stormey (Parker) Kimbriel. I've started this fund to help pay for about 2 to 4 weeks, maybe longer, of travel, lodging, food, medical expenses, and for the numerous tests that will be conducted at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida if this GoFundMe page is successful. My Mom has been unable to walk, experiencing severe neuropathy and numbness in her legs, feet, arms and hands, and is in constant excruciating pain. This has taken such a toll on her mentally as well as physically and socially. If you know Mom, then you know depression is not something she has had to deal with before, but I've seen her at her lowest many times since this all started. Over the last three years she has had several surgeries on her back and neck without success and is desperate for help. The Mayo Research Clinic is our last hope for a diagnosis and treatment plan. We are truly grateful for your thoughts and prayers, and any help you can give at this time. If you're interested in the full story on what's been going on with Mom, I've included the details below. Thanks again all of you and God bless! ♥️
My mom first ruptured a disk in her back at the beginning of 2017. Ever since then, she started to lose the feeling in her feet and legs. It started in her pinky toe on her right foot. The numbness spread up that leg and down through her left leg and both of her legs began to swell badly. Her walking became incredibly difficult and long distances were unmanageable. She somehow pushed through and still managed to dance with her son, Tyler Kimbriel, at his wedding in 2018.
At the beginning of 2019, the pain in her lower back was too much to bare and she was straining it more and more because she was basically dragging her legs to get around. Her bottom vertebrae were rubbing bone on bone, close to fracturing each other, which led to her first back surgery in May of 2020 to repair her vertebrates from L5-S1 by inserting a cage.
After recovering from surgery and 6 months of Physical Therapy, her pain in her lower back did not improve and her numbness and swelling in her legs worsened. Then came on severe restless leg and neuropathy. She was forced to use a walker, even to just maneuver around her own house. After 6 months of her surgeon telling her that the area he performed surgery on looked perfect, he released her from his care and told her she needed to see a neurologist. She followed through and went to many neurologists and a couple wanted to just put her on several medications saying that she would be living with the severe neuropathy to some wanting to diagnose her with multiple sclerosis (MS), to a couple of them ruling out MS. Either way, my mom was not getting any help or relief.
She eventually was led to a highly rated surgeon in the Irving area who had great reviews. He suggested to start with a neck surgery seeing as it was severely compressed, as well, causing her much pain and numbness in her arms and hands, along with from her lower abdomen down. Her neck surgery was in September of 2021. They placed 3 cages in from C4-C7. The surgery was brutal and did not fix the numbness but relieved some of the pain.
That same surgeon went back and reviewed the cage in her lower back from her first back surgery and noticed that surgeon didn't fuse it all the way. He believed fixing that would eliminate her pain and probably what was all going on in her legs and feet. In December of 2021, 2 days before Christmas, he performed her second back reconstructive surgery. He had to go in from her stomach, remove the cage the previous surgeon put in and clean up the area, then flip her over and put in a new cage. All in the same surgery. Many months of PT later and still no change. Her symptoms in her legs and feet just slowly worsened. The surgeon has no idea what the issue is and is continuing to get her to see neurosurgeons. My mom has lost a good amount of money dealing with all these doctors and surgeries, however, she is physically and mentally struggling the most.
Recently, she was sent to a cardiologist to have numerous tests run over two months time. Several of those nurses were separately suggesting going to the Mayo Clinic.
So, now here she is with what she feels has to be her last shot at hope; travel to the Mayo clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, and hope they can figure out what on earth is going on.
My Mom has the biggest heart I've ever witnessed. She's so strong and passionate. She gives and gives until she has nothing left because it genuinely puts a smile on her face. Aside from losing the ability to walk, her biggest struggle is having to ask for help for the simplest tasks. If God hadn't blessed her with such a morbid sense of humor then I'm not sure how she would have made it this far. Please help in an any way cover the expenses for finding her the best care and getting her back to her complete self. ♥️
