Help Strange Brain Parts

Hello! My name is Allan and am the writer, narrator and editor of the YouTube channel, Strange Brain Parts. For over six years I’ve regularly produced comic book related videos using a twelve year-old computer. Unfortunately, at the beginning of October, this computer locked up and became a brick. It was confirmed by a technician that the computer is dead and even if I wanted to replace the burnt-out motherboard, parts no longer exist. Repairing it wasn’t an option.

Worse yet, I had lost numerous templates, newer passwords, folders and scripts for future videos. Adding insult to injury, my back-up disk had become corrupt. So far, all efforts to recover anything on it have produced no result.

I literally lost everything. That is not hyperbole.

This left me without a machine to produce videos. My options were to simply disappear and let the channel die, or buy a new computer and go into debt in order to maintain the channel as I had been previously.

I took the second option. Which leads me to this campaign and my request for your assistance to help relieve the burden of this unexpected turn of events.

The total amount will pay-off the computer, monitor and give me the opportunity to get additional storage to replace my corrupt back-up. Which is something I’ve not been able to afford at this point. If support exceeds the campaign amount then I will buy additional equipment to help with video production.

In order of priority, this is what I would use the additional funds for:

An audio interface and an XLR cord. This piece of equipment will help improve the audio quality dramatically.

A desk mountable swing arm. This will make it far easier for me to do livestreams. Currently, my microphone just sits on my desk to the side and gets in the way of my keyboard.

A USB Hub with additional storage. Extra USB connections would be very convenient. And the additional storage space as another back-up would ensure I don’t lose everything once again to a corrupt back-up.

In the meantime, during this campaign, I will continue to produce videos on a regular basis. This is the only thing I can reasonably offer as an incentive for this support.
