The Jodi L. Barber High School Equivalency Scholarship
Founded in 2024, the Jodi L. Barber High School Equivalency Scholarship was inspired by the tireless efforts of a strong and determined woman to pursue her academic goals. The mission of this scholarship is to support students with high school equivalency degrees.
Thanks to the generosity of all who had donated in 2024, a Wake Tech student was awarded a $1,000 scholarship in Fall 2024. Below is a message from them to our donors:
I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for awarding me the Jodi Barber High School Equivalent Scholarship. This scholarship represents a tremendous opportunity for me to continue my education, and I am deeply appreciative of your support.
The funds provided will enable me to pay my tuition and begin my college
journey this semester. I am excited to major in Business Administration and
look forward to applying my education to future business ventures.
My college experience has already begun to change my life, and I am
incredibly thankful that you are a part of this journey. Your generous
contribution to the Jodi Barber High School Equivalent Scholarship has
brought me one step closer to achieving my goals, and I cannot thank you
enough for this opportunity.
A Message from the organizer:
There’s so much I want to say about my mother but truly can’t find the words. One word that comes to mind is inspirational. As I grow older and reflect on my life, I find my admiration and appreciation for my mother grows. In 1992 my mother received her GED. Since then, she has never stopped working towards her academic goals. In 2020 she earned her license in medical billing and is scheduled to graduate in 2025 with a degree in accounting. This scholarship is inspired by her perseverance to reach her academic goals. She represents many of the students at Wake Tech. It is our hope that through the support of this scholarship, students can persevere to reach their academic goals, too. All donations will be used to award a student in Fall 2025.
