A closed-loop recycling hub based in Los Angeles, SUAY is revolutionizing the fashion industry by transforming textile waste into opportunities. Through recycling, reuse, and repair, we're extending the life of garments and making a real impact.

As we build out our new space in DTLA, we’re constantly looking for ways to make our services more accessible locally and beyond—and we’re on track to meet our goal of reusing 80M pounds of textiles by 2029.

Like any pioneering venture, SUAY has faced its share of obstacles. We've encountered financial hurdles and operational challenges that tested our resilience. But as we continue to transform an industry historically dominated by abuse and exploitation, we need your help to keep SUAY the grassroots, community-centered operation it’s been the last few years.

Your contributions will be transformational.

Here’s how the funds will be spent:

Design and innovation: $150,000

We aim to increase our recycling capabilities by expanding our infrastructure and resources, allowing us to divert 80 million pounds of textiles from landfills by December 2029. Additionally, we will develop in-house proprietary technology and a new web experience to make SUAY more accessible to all.

Elevate Repair & Reuse as the solution: $150,000

Our goal is to expand our Community Dye Bath™ and Repair Services to process larger volumes of garments, thereby increasing our impact and efficiency.

Solidarity and responsibility: $100,000

We are committed to ensuring that the benefits of our work extend well beyond the present by investing in a strong foundation for worker ownership. This will propel SUAY to become the recycling hub of the future, creating new life-sustaining jobs for garment workers and fostering an inclusive economy in Los Angeles.

Community well-being: $100,000

In partnership with the SUAY Center for Reuse + Repair, our planned workshop and non-profit space, we will launch community-driven, worker-centric programs focused on sustainable repair practices. We will build on existing programs like the monthly Community Dye Bath™, repairs, and SUAY IT FORWARD textile recycling. Additionally, we’ll introduce new initiatives such as career development and education opportunities, a recreational free-use basketball court, a community garden, and so much more.
