help Banan to finish med school amidst war

Dear everyone,

I hope this letter finds you well and safe.

My name is Banan Suliman. I am a Sudanese medical student in my fifth year at Ahfad University for Women in Sudan. Due to the devastating war that started on April 15/2023 and created tragic conditions, my educational journey substantially disrupted and this was excruciating for me. My family and I were forced to flee our home in the capital city Khartoum after a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) unit broke into our house and arrested my father and brother, but thankfully they sent them free after five hours and we moved to the White Nile State. Against our will, we settled there for half a year, and we spent all of our savings on food, clean water, medical supplies, and rent (which was very expensive).

When the situation worsened significantly and the war expanded, my siblings and I were forced to flee to Egypt, leaving our father behind. We were registered as refugees with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to prevent deportation and seek assistance.

after a year and two months, my university (Ahfad University for Women) has signed an agreement with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport in the North Coast of Egypt to give us the opportunity to complete our studies and achieve our dreams. Unfortunately, the tuition fees are very high, and me and my family cannot afford them. We lost everything we had in this war and my parents lost their jobs and savings, and it is impossible to secure this amount even if we all work day and night.

I really need to raise approximately $15,000 to complete two years of study. The costs include:

•Tuition fees paid to the Arab Academy for Science_Technology and Maritime Transport

•Accommodation, living expenses

•Travel allowances and study requirements

Since we start our journey on Sep 2017, we went through multiple adversities: Sudanese Revolution 2019, Corona lockdown in 2020, a military coup in 2021, and the ongoing war in our homeland since 15th of April/2023.

I am a hard-working and dedicated student who is passionate about making a difference in my community. I believe that education is the key to a better future for myself and my country, particularly during these tough times. With your help and generosity, I can hopefully complete my medical studies and become a doctor who can help people in need.
