Help Sudanese migrant workers in Beirut get home
Donation protected
Lebanon is in a deep crisis and migrant workers who lost jobs and homes are suffering the most right now, because they cannot go home. Since the beginning of June, several hundred Sudanese migrant workers who unemployed and homeless have been sleeping on the street outside the Sudanese embassy in Beirut. Lebanon has made it clear that they are not welcome anymore. Their demand now is simple: They want to go home. But a flight to Sudan from Beirut is expensive (300USD) and, without jobs, most of them can't afford it.
The situation is urgent: The men are breathing in the chemical dust that has accumulated on the streets following Beirut's deadly explosion on August 4. The only food and water they have is what volunteers can provide, in a city where aid is needed everywhere.
We, friends of the Sudanese in Beirut, are raising funds for flight tickets so they can get home safely to their families in Sudan and restart their lives. The funds will be distributed directly to those in need, and we will monitor their safe departure and arrival. The Sudanese migrants at the sit-in have already registered their departure with the Lebanese immigration authorities. All they need now is the last funds to make it home.
Please consider donating: Your help will save lives, from Beirut to Khartoum!
