My friend and coworker Sudeer Neela's family home in the Arbor View neighborhood was completely leveled by the EF-3 Tornado that hit West Omaha / Elkhorn on Friday afternoon April 26, 2024.

Donate whatever you can to help the Neela family with immediate financial needs and to relieve some of the stresses and burdens that insurance won't cover for Sudeer and the Neela family.

Fortunately he, his wife and toddler son moved to the basement nearly a minute before it struck and suffered only very minor injuries.

Their basement wall collapsed and was pierced by flying debris, lumber and even a steel pipe. The kitchen fell into the basement and flooded. The second floor is completely gone. All that remained of the partial first floor was bare subflooring.

Everything was either destroyed or sent up into the heavens and probably miles and miles from the home including storage drive documenting other valuables that were lost.

Their only car is totaled and trapped. All we could salvage was not enough to even fill half a pickup bed. Only jackets, a pressure cooker, a backpack, a few other small items could be recovered. No clothes, furniture, electronics, shoes, or much of anything but broken kitchen household items.

While the home and vehicle were insured when and what the actual relief will be is unknown. And likely will not be completely sufficient beyond that property to completely replace what was lost or reimburse other expenses in addition to the added stress of dealing with such a catastrophic event.
