Help Sue and Ken Unmacht Recover After Palisades Fire
Donation protected
My husband's parents, Ken and Sue Unmacht, 85 yrs old, lost their home of over 50 years in the Palisades Fire. This has been an unimaginable loss for them, and over the coming weeks and months, they’ll need significant support as they recover their lives.
Sue has faced health challenges in recent years, and with these health concerns and the sudden loss of their home, we are doing our best to support them. We anticipate many unforeseen expenses.
They have never looked to others for aid or assistance and have rather been active contributing members to their community. Sue has been a beloved kindergarten and first grade teacher, including at the nearby school that burned down, and Ken is a dedicated and caring therapist. They have lived relatively modestly in their community which has changed much since they move there in 1972, keeping their simple "little yellow house" with white shutters and planted flowers and green grass. It was a home filled with a lifetime of memories and all their belongings, most of the latter of which were taken by the thoroughness of the destruction.
For that reason, and because many people outside the LA area have reached out asking how they can offer their support, I'm setting up this page from Vancouver on their behalf. We are truly grateful for any contributions to help while they work through the insurance process. We are focused on providing them with stability during this difficult, transition time.
Ken and Sue have said any unused funds will be donated to others in need who have also been impacted by this tragedy.
Any help — from the smallest donation to sharing this post — is deeply meaningful. Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
