**Who I Am**

I am Suhair Ismail, Palestinian Artist from Gaza City. My paintings on porcelain & glass often telling the beautiful spirit of the Palestine & Palestinians. I received numerous honours: The prize from the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, 2015. Also, "The Creative Woman Award of the year 2015". Further, I participated in several exhibitions & bazaars. In May, 2022, blessedly openning “Anamel Art Gallery” Anamel, which means "fingers". As a new step, I didnt borne all the financial expenses of the gallery alone so urgency I borrowed money "debts" from my family and friends (70.000 NIS nearly $19.000). Proudly I started anew challenge and desire to creat ART with a heART! I dwell with my husband a happy peacfully life at our owned new comfy flat, we bought by bank hire-burchase in 2021! **What Happened:** After October 7, It's like, my heart and soul has been ripped out of my body as I lost everything concurrently: my new sweet home, gallery, business, income, dreams... It’s a bittersweet feeling, isn’t it? to think about every happy moment we have, every lovely artwork I made and it’s going to be a memory!! Throughout that scary night of 9 October, neighbored building was bombard without premonitory! My husband and I have endured hardships night! Unfortunately, our flat has been seriously damaged!

Furthermore, I am heartbroken over losing my gallery at that night as the building, where "Anamel Art Gallery" was also partially destroyed! Most of favorite paintings stuff especially which made of glass & porcelain are broken! Farther, Anamel studio "storeroom", which contains tools, row materials, glass, rocks, porcelain, wood frames, colours, canvas...etc. was seriously damaged! In Gaza, we escaped death many times untill 17th of Nov. as Gazans forced to flee to the south of Gaza Strip! We, my husband, I and my family ( old mother, ill father, three brothers and two sisters with their families and kids) hardly walked over 5 kilometers to reach middle Area! We fled six months to the city of Rafah and then two months of KhanYounis seeking a shelter! Several months of war we have nowhere to come back to! We live in very difficult conditions due to the lack of the basics of life! Months of displacement holding grief and hope at the same time!

Covering basic daily Expenses:food, healthy water, clothing, and shelter for me & my beloved family. 2. ** Repaying borrowed money: my friends, who lent me funds for establishing Anamel Art Gallery, are living harsh conditions through this bloody war and consequently asking repayment debts. 3. ** In light of genocide, our eyes look at "Rafah Crossing" the only hope for us to survive and leave Gaza. We are waiting and wishing to open it soon to save our lives.
