Help Family of Suicide Victim, Steven Mahoney

Dear Friends and Family,

On March 24th, 2022 Steven Patrick Mahoney finally lost his long and arduous battle with the demons of manic depression and schizophrenia. This is a dark time for his family and friends. Steven was an intelligent, enthusiastic, and wonderful person with a friendly smile and a warm heart that instantly became the life of any gathering. He will be sorely missed.

Despite concerns that this was always a possibility, we nonetheless are all shocked and saddened by the events of the situation and due to a lack of any insurances are woefully unprepared for what lies ahead. Our family has always struggled financially, but what we lack in financial resourceses we have always made up for in love and support for each other when it was needed most. Today we're asking for both.

Steve was born, in Waco, on July 17, 1979. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Merriam Mahoney, grandmother, Dorothy Terrell, uncle Clyde "Howard" Findley, and brother-in-law John Dean, as well as his first daughter, Stephanie Mahoney, who tragically lost her life one day after her birth June 11, 2003. He is survived by his mother, Loydene Mahoney, his father, Ron Mahoney and wife Tina; uncle Ken Mahoney, aunts, Debbie Mahoney and Wynell Findley; sibling, Douglas Mahoney with former partner Jessica and former wife Jaime and their children Myar, Griffin, and Conner; sibling Eric Mahoney and wife Shawnee and their children Amelia and Arthur; sibling Kim Shannon; his former wife Rhonda Madrid and their daughters Sabrina and Jeana Mahoney, and numerous other cousins, friends, and loved ones.

Also, for his last two years, Steven lived with his girlfriend, Betsy Runde, who brought much light into his world and whom he loved deeply. Betsy and her parents, Ellen and Nestor Cromwell, loved Steven very much and did everything possible to help him through his struggles by getting him into psychiatric care and treatment as well as opening their home and hearts to him.

Steve always struggled with his mental health, but he will be remembered for his fun loving spirit, kind heart, and endless creative energy. It is a tragedy to lose such a special a loved one made that much more painful by the act of them taking their own life.

We might not know who you are, but if you're reading this, we love you, and if you're ever finding yourself in a similar position, we urge you to reach out to someone, and get the help you deserve, because no one deserves for it to end like this. Call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) to be connected to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, and after July 16, 2022 you will be able to call 988 to reach them even easier.

We greatly appreciate any assistance that you can give at this time and will update everyone on the ceremony arrangements as they are made available.

From the bottom of the hearts of all of Steve's friends and family, we lovingly and sincerely thank you for your time and help today.
