Help Summer Make Nature Therapy Accessible

Donation protected

My name is Summer, I am Deaf and I am a certified Nature and Forest Therapy guide. I help people re-connect to Nature through the healing techniques of shinrin-yoku, which is also known as Forest Bathing.

Shinrin-yoku is increasingly recognized as a powerful tool for mental health. Doctors are even prescribing nature to help patients regulate stress, anxiety, and depression. However, access to these healing benefits is unevenly distributed- especially among people with disabilites.

The Deaf, DeafDisabled, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing communities face unique challenges, including limited access to mental health services in their native language, ASL. Our retreats offer a vital opportunity for members of those communities to connect with themselves, their community, and learn different skills to support their well-being through Nature.

Our goal is to make these transformative experiences accessible to all. We are committed to offering reduced registration fees to those facing financial hardship, such as individuals with significant debt, medical expenses, or limited income. Additionally, we want to ensure our retreat team, composed of dedicated Deaf professionals, is fairly compensated for their time and expertise.

Your generous donation will help us:

  • Offer reduced registration fees to those in need, including members of the Deaf, DeafDisabled, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing communities
  • Provide fair compensation to our retreat team
  • Create a more inclusive and equitable retreat experience
  • By supporting our campaign, you're helping to break down barriers and make nature's healing accessible to all. Together, we can create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

How your donation helps:
  • Donating $100 helps us support a team of certified Deaf holistic practitioners to teach workshops at our Nature retreats.
  • Donating $400 allows us to support a qualified scholarship applicant who show medical and financial necessity.
  • Donating $800 allows us to give a full scholarship to a retreat participant who shows medical/financial necessity.
  • If you want to come as a retreat participant, paying $1000 covers your retreat expenses and gives $200 to our scholarship fund.

All scholarship applicants will be interviewed and selected based on their dedication to community, Nature, and/or Deaf education.
