Help support a mother's love

Dear Friends and Community,

My name is Sofia and I decided to start this Go Fund Me on behalf of my dear sister-friend Michele Rattary. Saturday, Sept 30th, 2023, Michele received a call that every mother dreads. Her son-Michael was seriously injured and required to be medevaced to receive emergency spinal surgery. The next 24 hours revealed what I can only call a miracle that he is alive to share his story.

Michael is a Morehouse man, who recently completed his freshman year in May 2023. He decided to enlist in the Army Reserve to help his mother cover his tuition and be of service to his country. During Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Michael fell almost 30 ft from the obstacle course, flipping backwards, breaking his breast bone and fracturing 2 of his cervical disc. As heart breaking as this is to write, we are so grateful that he is alive.

As his mother-Michele immediately left her job to be with him. Overall he is in great spirits because Michael is a determined soul, but the recovery will be long. Right now Michael is unable to lay or sit straight up, let alone walk and is struggling to regain strength in his limbs, thereby requiring 24 hour care.
