Help support a sick 24 year veteran teacher

Hi friends,
As some of you know, Kat has been extremely ill. She spent 4 days in the hospital at the end of January. She has had a plethora of tests. So far, the doctors have learned that she has viral meningitis, Epstein Barr virus & vasculitis. However, after all the tests, the doctors are still uncertain what the root cause of all of these conditions are. She is currently waiting to see a rheumatologist for further testing and hopeful diagnosis! The problem is, there are only 4 rheumatologists in our area so the wait is lengthy.
So far, Kat has been out of work since January 25th & the doctors have no idea when she would be able to return to work. She currently has no income & she is still waiting to receive her short term disability payment. Her policy does not cover the first 3 weeks of missed work & only pays out 60% of her salary. As we all know, teachers are severely underpaid in this country so this is a definite stressor for her! Unfortunately, stress makes her condition much worse and she is under a lot of pressure. Right now, her portion of her medical bills is over $5,000 with more bills being received daily. She usually has a nest egg to fall back on but after buying a house less than 9 months ago, & all that goes along with that, her savings has been severely depleted. She was working hard on building back up her savings before falling ill to this mysterious condition.
While we don’t know what’s causing her condition we do know that Kat will not be able to return to work for quite some time and only receiving 2/3 of her normal pay for such an extended time is not sustainable.
Our financial goal to help cover the mounting medical bills and immediate expenses is $10,000. We know, especially right now that this is a big ask! However, anything you could contribute would be a huge help to keep the wolves at bay. Your prayers & well wishes are always helpful as well. Thank you so much for any help you can give!
