Help Abdel Heal: Support His Fight Against Colorectal Cancer
Hey everyone!
I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea for support for my dear father Glenn and his husband Abdel. Abdel has always been a beacon of positivity and kindness in our community, known for his exceptional customer service at Sprouts Farmers Market. He has a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, and his dedication to helping others is truly inspiring.
Unfortunately, Abdel's life took a dramatic turn when he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in June of 2023. He has been undergoing rigorous Chemoradiation therapy, which has taken a severe toll on his body. The radiation has caused extensive damage, resulting in painful, non-healing wounds that have left Abdel unable to work for his second 6 month stint. His journey was supposed to include an eight-week recovery period after chemoradiation, but tragically, this recovery has been ongoing and moving in the wrong direction for ten months now.
Abdel’s contributions to society are countless. At Sprouts, he was more than just an employee—he was a friend to many, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. His commitment to providing top-notch customer service made every shopping trip a pleasant experience for everyone who walked through the doors.
Adding to the strain, Abdel's husband of 20 years, Glenn, was forced into early retirement from his very successful 20 year career in the car business to provide full-time care for Abdel. With chronic illness himself, to say the least, this has been very challenging for him. This sudden change has been a tremendous sacrifice for Glenn, who now works part-time to complement his Social Security payments. Despite his efforts, coupled with Abdel's inability to work, they are struggling to cover basic living expenses such as rent, groceries, and gasoline.
In a final effort to avoid life-threatening surgeries and to alleviate his pain, Abdel is seeking Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). This treatment offers a glimmer of hope, as it could significantly improve his condition and potentially allow him to return to work and the community he loves so dearly.
We are asking for your generosity and support to help Abdel and Glenn through this incredibly challenging time. Donations will go directly towards their everyday expenses and the cost of medical expenses (HBOT), giving them a fighting chance to heal and regain their lives.
