Help Abushaban Family in Gaza: Resources

Hello to all, our names are Yasmine and Janan Abushaban and we are fundraising for our immediate and extended family in Gaza.

We come to you with an earnest plea for help during this difficult time. Our entire family resides in the Gaza Strip and we have already lost many members from the family since October 7. May God have mercy on their souls. A majority of our family members lived in the North of Gaza and Central Gaza before this war started, and some were unable to evacuate to the South due to the unsafe conditions and lack of safe passage.

The Abushaban family is in dire need of medical help, food, shelter, and emergency resources to survive the war. The funds will be used to help rebuild their lives as they have all lost everything. None of their homes remain standing. Our family in Gaza spans wide and there are many children and grandchildren that need to be cared for.

In our family there are many kids who have become orphaned as a result of the war, and it is our hope that we will be able to contribute funds from this campaign to aid them in their ongoing hardship. Even basic necessities such as food and water are difficult to secure, as the civil infrastructure of Gaza has been completely destroyed.

Just to give a few examples of some of the obstacles our family in Gaza have endured:

One of our cousins had a surgery for his cancer on October 7th and came out of the operating room with no physicians in the hospital to check on him. His state has been constantly dwindling and he is greatly suffering. We desperately want to get him the medical care he needs and ensure his long term safety.

The building my aunt, her husband and her children were staying in was set on fire by the occupation. This is yet another time they have needed to flee to safety, not knowing where they can seek refuge or if there will be another building available to temporarily home them. With each relocation, they are unsure whether the outcome will be as merciful as the last. She had her own hair and beauty salon that was just renovated after the previous 2021 war. Her husband was a tailor and also lost his office, leaving their family homeless and jobless.

One of our uncles is a dentist who just last year was finally able to open his new office. He has always been an extremely generous and kind hearted man, frequently offering free dental services to those who could not afford to pay him. His office and home have been destroyed.

This is a matter that needs all hands on board. You have the power to make a tangible difference. Even if you can only spare $1, we thank you greatly and appreciate your empathy and generosity. The situation worsens with each passing day. Gazans in the North are using animal fodder to make bread. Their conditions are absolutely terrible. We beg and implore you to please join us in trying to support them. Their faith remains strong even with all they have endured.

Our personal resources have been completely exhausted and we are left with no choice but to come to our community for support to help them survive. We must remain resilient and active in this cause.

The multitude of respect we have for the people of Gaza is insurmountable. The children especially have taught us many lessons on what it means to be a human in this world that is undeniably cruel sometimes. It breaks our hearts to think they sleep at night with the fear they will not live to see the sun in the morning. We fear that their adorable laughter and smiles will be changed forever from this trauma. The people of Gaza do not wish to change where they’re from or who they are. They wish to live in peace and remain the same. They have honor, dignity, patience, and most importantly Yaqeen (certainty) in Allah swt. We love them dearly and wish nothing more than to help them survive and make it past this difficult time so they can live to tell their story.

We are all in this life to serve others and to be used as a vessel to alleviate one another’s suffering. That is what humanity is about. No matter how long this goes on for, we will not lose momentum. The people of Gaza have no choice but to keep going, and to keep resisting. We have no choice but to keep helping, networking and standing together the way a Muslim Ummah should always stand together, not just in war. We know everything is in the hands of Allah swt and we fully trust in His plan. Allah swt makes no mistakes, and God willing, every hardship will be met with a beautiful mercy. May Allah swt pardon us for our shortcomings and join us with our loved ones both in this life and the next.
