Along Came Trudy is in trouble. Due to the newest restrictions, Along Came Trudy is in jeopardy of being shut down for good.
Along Came Trudy has provided a welcoming place where you can sit down and enjoy a delicious meal, warm atmosphere and a hot cup of coffee. Along Came Trudy and owner Trudy Logan provide a place to relax, read the newspaper or a good book, work on homework or work remotely. She provides space for multiple groups including bible studies, parties, business meetings, community events and celebrations of life. The services she offers are far more than just food for your belly.
Trudy has supported our community for many years. In 1998 she opened “The Pump Café” where she played a huge part in the revitalization of Downtown Springfield. In 2012, Trudy opened her Café and Event Venue in the Mohawk District where she continues to touch the hearts of people from all walks of life. Trudy loves our community and shows it by giving back on a daily basis.
On December 4th, OSHA came into the Café and served a citation stating that a $500 fine will be implemented EVERY DAY that she remains open. Her liquor license was suspended and her lottery contract was revoked. If she complies and closes her doors to the community she serves, she will have to close her doors permanently as many other small local businesses have already experienced.
Trudy and her staff take the health and wellness of our community very seriously. They are taking every precaution to ensure that their facility is safe and clean, even making adjustments to help maintain clean air quality.
At this point Along Came Trudy will remain open Monday through Friday 7AM to 2PM. They will be providing an option for dine-in (as space permits) and take out. We are asking for your support to save this business. Any money collected here will be used for legal fees and to pay fines incurred.
Trudy and her staff are sincerely grateful for the love and support they have received.
