Months ago, after years of dealing with vague and frustrating symptoms, doctors found lesions on Andy’s pancreas called Neuroendocrine tumors (NET’s). In an attempt to relieve those symptoms and stop potential metastasis, Andy was scheduled in Iowa City on Tuesday, May 23rd for a minimally-invasive procedure to remove them.

The recovery was supposed to be swift, and the plan was for him to discharge home the following Saturday on the 27th.

Early that Saturday morning, after days of struggling with an unusual amount of pain, high blood pressure, and an elevated heart rate, Andy's pain intensified significantly and his heart rate climbed dangerously high. His situation was dire, and his wife Beth was called and told to come to the hospital immediately. He was rushed to the ICU, and from there, sent in for emergency surgery.

After a harrowing major operation, Andy was sent back to the ICU in critical condition. Beth was told by the medical team that he almost didn't make it.

Fortunately, Andy is a tank. He seems to be stabilizing and improving each day. However, his condition is still very fragile, and new issues seem to pop up as others are addressed. He  required an additional surgery the morning of Monday May 29th, and it's uncertain what else may be needed during his hospitalization.
