Help Support Ann's Stroke Recovery

Donation protected
I approach this request for help with great humility and hesitation. No one ever expects to be in this situation, nor wants to go through it! Then all of a sudden your life gets turned upside down!

Hello I am Jeff, my wife, Ann, suffered a stroke in her brain stem, the Monday before Thanksgiving 2023. The days in the hospital were horrible! you never want a loved one to go through that pain and all the symptoms along with it. We had Thanksgiving in the hospital. We brought it to her, me and our two wonderful daughters! She was discharged the following day. Much had to be done to get our place ready for her.

The insurance did not pay for therapy, so it's been difficult. Of course, with all the doctor visits as well. Trying to find the right medications that work for her has also been hard. The medical bills just keep coming and seem like they will never stop. I will also take a moment to mention that our oldest daughter had a severe asthma attack and was hospitalized for a few days prior to my wife's stroke.

Recovery has been a long, winding road with plenty of ups and downs for Ann and all of us. She has made tremendous strides in her recovery going from wheelchair, to walker to using a cane when needed. We are very grateful for the progress! Unfortunately, she still suffers right side deficits, pain, numbness, headaches and the worst of all is the constant dizziness! These ongoing symptoms have made it impossible for her to work as a stylist. She has been a stylist for many years. She has built a clientele that love her for her kindness, attitude and ability to always get it right! They have continuously been checking on her to see if she is back. Some have vowed to wait until she is back to have anything done

The reality starts to set in and we wonder if she'll be able to work as she has in the past? The doctors say that there will always be some symptom or deficit there to remind her of the stroke. We just don't know what that will be. Obviously, very frustrating for everyone. She has hit a plateau with some possible regression. As we unfortunately have learned stroke recovery is not a constant linear progression! She still has a long ways to go. As she likes she likes to say "I think I can still do it, I have to remember that my body hasn't caught up with me yet!"

This GoFundMe page has been set up to help with medical, doctor, hospital, rehabilitation and household bills and ongoing expenses. Support is needed to help with Ann's recovery. This life changing event has affected the entire family. Please show financial as well as emotional support during this critical time.

With Love, Respect, Humility and Hope, Thank you!
Ann and Jeff
