Help Support Another Bauer Medical Crisis
Donation protected
Gordon Bauer has been struggling with a major medical crisis. He had a routine kidney stone surgery on January 18th at UPMC Hamot that started a sequence of many life-threatening events. He ended up being in the hospital longer than expected, returned to the hospital several days later with complications, suffered from two cardiac arrests, intubated, had emergency surgery to stop severe uncontrollable bleeding which all led to him needing to be put on a heart/lung bypass machine called ECMO. It was determined that he had blood clots in his legs that went to his heart and lungs. He was transported while on life support with an ICU medical team to Pittsburgh’s UPMC Presby on Saturday, January 27th where he has been in critical condition in the Cardiothoracic ICU. Kara, Liam and Patty Sperry (Kara’s mom) went down and have been in Pittsburgh ever since.
Gordon has had several procedures and is now off ECMO but still in ICU. For now he is stable and they are monitoring him and determining what else has been effected by the trauma. There are ongoing issues that will continue to be monitored. It has not been determined how long he will be in Pittsburgh, possibly weeks, maybe months.
Gordon and Kara’s family and friends have started this GoFundMe as many people have asked how to donate to help with expenses. Contributions will be used for hotel, meals, gas, essentials and any medical related expenses while he continues to recover.
We know this is going to be a marathon for him, not a sprint. We are all devastated for Gordon, and very concerned for the family. As you all know, Kara is still recovering from her own medical crisis in 2022 when she suffered from a ruptured brain aneurysm. She is still not fully recovered, and is still not back to work. Thank you for continued prayers, love and support.
This is truly a miracle couple…
