Help support Arthur's fight against Leukaemia

In the early hours of Friday morning, 14th of October, my brother Luke and sister-in-law Kate received the most dreaded of news, that no young parents ever want to hear. Their 15-month-old boy, Arthur, was diagnosed with Leukaemia.

It is still early stages and physicians are still not sure of either the type of leukaemia or the likely prognosis. This has understandably caused considerable anxiety for Kate & Luke and the shock of such a diagnosis, especially for someone so young, has been devastating.

Arthur has already undergone blood transfusions, bone marrow tests and one round of surgery, with chemotherapy scheduled to start later this week. We are expecting results back in the next day or two which will give us some indication of the fight Arthur will face over the year to come.

Kate & Arthur are now living together at Monash Medical Children's Hospital and will stay there for the next few weeks whilst treatment begins. They will become frequent visitors at Monash for at least the next 2 years. Luke and their daughter Matilda are venturing to Monash daily, but visits from them and extended family may have to become restricted due to Arthur's increased risk of infection.

Luke & Kate are school teachers and both have taken the rest of the year to focus on this battle, with Kate likely having to abstain from teaching for most of 2023. As a result, I was hoping to raise a few dollars to help them in their journey and contribute towards medical bills, childcare, transport/parking and living costs as they transition towards a sole income. Every little bit helps but I am conscious that financial pressures are increasing for many in the community, so please only contribute if you have the means.
