Help Support Bill After Devastating Fire

Family and friends,

It is with a very heavy heart that I am reaching out to you for your help. On November 30th, my father, Bill Schweitzer, lost his home to a fire. We are blessed that he and his beloved dog, Cooper, survived. Unfortunately, he lost his 12 year old cat and friend, Brindle, to the fire.

Over the past few days, our family has worked together to go through the rubble and try to find anything that might be salvageable. Other than a few tools, photos, and knick knacks, the house and its contents is a total loss. Whatever wasn't destroyed by fire was destroyed by smoke and water. To make matters worse, my father did not have insurance of any kind nor any savings. So now we are starting from scratch.

My dad is a magnificent man. He has always been the most hardworking man I know. Growing up, I watched him work many 7-day weeks and multiple jobs to ensure a good life for his girls.

Now that he is retired, he spends his time helping his neighbors and friends with their homes and projects. He never accepts any form of payment from anyone, he only wants to help. In fact, he was raking a neighbor's yard when he noticed the smoke of the fire that took his home.

We have set a $60,000 goal with the hope to put a roof back over my dad's head and replace basic household items. In order to put a mobile home in a park, it must be less than 10 years old. It was in learning this, that we realized we need help from our community. Not only do we have to cover the cost of demolition and cleanup, and the cost of a home itself, but also the cost of having it moved, set-up, AC/heat, etc.

Currently, we have had a few donations of basic necessities and money from friends, family, neighbors and Red Cross totalling in $1140.

We know money is tight for most families during the Holiday Season. If you can find it in your heart to donate, you won't find a more deserving and appreciative man. Even the smallest amount would mean the world to us. If you aren't in the position to donate financially, please donate by sharing this message with your friends and family.
