Support Caden Crandall's Road to Recovery
Donation protected

The 15 year old young man pictured in the photo is my nephew Caden Crandall (Cranimal929). On July 28, 2023, Caden suffered a traumatic accident which resulted in the amputation of his right hand. He was enjoying a late summer trip to Lake Havasu with his family and 3 friends, when an early boat ride suddenly turned into a life threatening emergency. While wakeboarding, the rope became wrapped around his wrist and he was unable to get his hand loose before falling. Unfortunately, when he fell the rope cinched around his wrist and severed his hand. Caden quickly signaled for help and his dad turned the boat around to pick him up. Thankfully, my brother was able to get him stabilized. One of Caden's friends had the task of pulling the rope into the boat, while doing that he realized that Caden's hand was still attached to the rope. His dad drove the boat back to the shore, where EMS was waiting and Caden was medivacked to Phoenix Children's Hospital. Doctors, including Surgeon, Kareem Hassan at Children's Hospital were able to reattach Caden's hand, in an 11 hour surgery. He was admitted to the hospital where he spent the next 14 days, which included two 5 hour surgeries and a 10 hour surgery to make repairs to his tendons, veins, arteries, nerves, muscles, and skin. Caden is a 15 year old young man that has an affinity for high energy activities. He started motocross racing 9 months ago and was placing in the top three, of most of his races. He is an active kid, riding his bike with friends, wake boarding, and playing ice hockey. Caden has shown amazing courage, perseverance, and strength during this unimaginable situation. He has a "can do" attitude and is ready to get started on physical therapy, in order to get back to all of his activities, especially racing his motorcycle. While the doctors have no idea how much use or feeling Caden will have in his hand or how long that road will be, he has a great support system of family and friends. A special shout out to all of his friends that have kept his spirits up by visiting him and making sure they do anything they can to help him out. Extra shout out to his friends, Ethan, Jake, and Dakota for being unbelievably brave, caring, and understanding while being on the boat when all of this happened. God bless Caden, his sister (Dakota) and his mom and dad (Jeremy and Michelle) they have all been brave and resilient during this time. The road ahead is a long one with ups and downs, but the love they have for each other will get them through the toughest times. Thank you for any help, prayers, and words of encouragement you can give my nephew and his family. Any donations will help with his continued therapy and any future needs outside of regular medical coverage.
