Help Support Cassidy and Trevor’s Baby with Heterotaxy
Donation protected
My daughter Cassidy and her fiancé Trevor are expecting a baby boy by March. At Cassidy’s 20 week anatomy ultrasound, they found something concerning, requiring her to be seen in St. Paul for further imaging.
She and I drove down in the following week and they found that baby has Heterotaxy - a serious heart condition. His heart didn’t form correctly and he has an interrupted vena cava - meaning the blood is having to find a new route to travel to get through the heart, which will require at least one open heart surgery, and the electrical part of his heart isn’t positioned right and he may need a pacemaker. Along with that, he was diagnosed with polysplenia (multiple spleens). The spleens job is to filter bacteria, and because he has multiple, it doesn’t do an efficient job at filtering, so he will have autoimmune deficiency and is prone to becoming very sick. His stomach and liver are not positioned correctly inside, and his intestines could potentially be twisting on themselves, but that is not something an ultrasound is able to detect. If that is the case, another surgery will need to be done to correct that. Because of this, her pregnancy is considered high-risk - along with being a type 1 diabetic which is also closely monitored.
Cassidy has to commute to the cities multiple times a week for appointments. Your donation would help contribute to travel, medical, and living expenses.
All prayers and donations are deeply appreciated.
