Help Nigerian Kids in Chess in Slums Program Eat!
UPDATE from the Chess in Slums Team: Due to COVID-19, the children in the Chess in Slums Initiative and their families are facing hunger. The virus has caused a food shortage in Nigeria, and many of these families have lost income due to the virus. Please share with friends and donate to help these families during these difficult times!
This fundraiser is on behalf of the Chess in Slums Initiative in Nigeria.
Unveiling Royalty in Slum Children
My name is Tunde Onakoya, and I'm a professional chess player, chess coach, and the founder of the Chess in Slums Initiative.
I grew up in a slum community, but learning how to play chess saved my life. Now I'm giving other children that live in slum communities the same opportunity by using chess educational resources coupled with mentorship to promote learning and help them discover their true potential.
The goal of this fundraiser is to raise funds to enroll the kids we train in school as they live in abject poverty and can't afford basic stationary items to even stay in school. The goal is to use the game of chess to unveil royalty in these children that live in impoverished conditions.
