Help Support Claire's Fight Against AML

My name is Laura Able and I am close friends with the Schmidt family. Claire and my daughter, Baker, have been best friends since diapers in preschool at Coastal Christian. Together with Lea Meyer and Natalie's sisters Abby and Hannah, we will be providing updates on Claire's progress throughout the coming months.

On Saturday, September 28, Claire went to the pediatrician for some unexplained bruising and was sent to MUSC Shawn Jenkins Hospital. Within a matter of hours, she was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia).

Monday, September 30 Claire had a central line placed and a bone marrow biopsy done. Today, October 1, Claire started her first round of chemotherapy. This will be a 30-45 day round where Claire will remain in the hospital. During this time, she will be extremely prone to infection so the family has asked for no visitors at this time.

All of the funds raised here will go directly to the Schmidt family medical expenses and cover their daily needs supporting Claire and caring for Georgia at home.

At this time, to alleviate the overwhelm of responding to texts and calls of those who care, all updates on Claire's condition will be shared via this GoFundMe.
