Hello! Posting as a place to provide some updates as well as hopefully help Danielle financially a little and most importantly continue to ask for Prayers!
Danielle has had medical problems with her back and neck for years which has resulted in frequent, severe headaches. She's had numerous ER trips and more imaging than one should have, as well as many, many days laid up at home due to her persistent headaches. The last 3 weeks Danielle has been so severe and mostly bed bound. She was in the ER several times, getting brushed away and sent home every time. Until this past week, a physician noticed something alarming on imaging, got her admitted and started working her up with many more tests and procedures. A lumbar puncture revealed that she most likely has what is called IIH (Idiopathic intracranial hypertension) or otherwise known as a pseudo tumor. This disease is very RARE affecting 1/200,000 people. What she is experiencing is truly mimicking how a brain tumor can debilitate you. The pain in her head and the pressure is constantly at a 10/10. She has swollen eyes, edema behind her eyes, and has been slowing losing her vision because of this. It was decided to transfer Danielle to UofL to a wonderful team of Neurosurgeons for further care. She arrived here by ambulance on Saturday night. The next step is tomorrow (Monday) Danielle will have a 3 hour procedure to send a catheter through the vessels in her head to determine which ones may be suitable for a stent. They will then place stents with hope to start relieving some pressure. We do not know if this will help 100% for sure but we pray it will! They've also discussed possibly needing to shunt her if this does not work. She'll be in Louisville at least through the week yet and Neurosurgery said it can still take months for the severity of her headaches and pressure to go away. Times are tough for her all around; physically, medically, and financially. She's being as strong as she can and fighting to get back home to live as a normal of a life as she can with her (soon to be 8 year old in 2 weeks) son!
Danielle and all of her family truly appreciate all the prayers and support! We are lucky to have such caring family and friends in our lives for so many of you have already reached out with messages, texts, calls, sending prayers, etc. Thank You!
