Dear friends of David Gerrard, and all who admired his brilliance and compassion throughout a life well-lived:

We are heartbroken by the loss of David. As his wife, Grace Bello, wrote: "He was not only a wonderful husband but also a devoted father, son, brother, teacher, and friend. He was known for his kindness, humor, creativity, and passion for writing and film. His exceptional intelligence and talent, as well as his fellowship with other writers, made an indelible mark on the literary community." He is remembered here .

We can help give Grace and Amelia, their daughter, a financial foundation in their lives to come -- through tuitions, extracurriculars, travel, and college. They live in Chappaqua and are held close by their extended families, but Grace will be taking an unpaid leave of absence from work as she grieves; even after she returns, additional childcare will represent a new expense.

Let's get them off on the right foot as their next journey begins. We've set a goal of $50,000. Gifts of any size are very much appreciated.
