Help support Debbi Nichols with her illness

Debbi was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease several years ago, which has presented great challenges and has become quite debilitating over time. She had to give up driving and has trouble keeping up with everyday chores. At the time when she had to stop teaching, her expenses soared with expensive medications, some of which are not covered by insurance and medical care. Without long-term health care insurance and the inevitable need for extra home care in the future, navigating the present condition, and also considering what is to come in the future, can feel bleak at times.

If you know Debbi, you know that she has a very special quality of connecting with and understanding others and is a wonderful friend to so many. A teacher for over 35 years, Debbi brought her unique talents and developed meaningful relationships with so many children and their families. Friends and school colleagues have relied on her for excellent advice - and a good laugh when they needed it.

And if you know Debbi, you also know that she is a strong and independent person and has a hard time asking for and receiving help. A few of us have been trying to convince her to let us put together a GoFundMe page, thinking that so many would want to help if they only knew she needed it! After a lot of convincing, she seems to be finally giving in to the idea. :)

We want her to know that she is not alone in this terrible progressive disease and to get the support she needs to manage what is to come. Any amount would help - thank you!
