Help support Don Lindsay’s Wife - Shirley

Donation protected
Most of you all have heard the news of the passing of Don Lindsay. He was the rock of our family. A husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, a best friend and one of the best coaches out there. There is no doubt Don Lindsay was larger than life and impacted so many people throughout his journey.

Dad was so incredibly strong and brave through his final cancer battle. This awful disease has been taking pieces of him for the last 8 years. We were blind sided and completely unaware of this new cancer that so quickly stole his life from us. Only 3 short months ago his regular cancer scans came back perfectly normal. Dad had a very aggressive cancer which lead to a very rapid decline in health and has left us lost and confused with no time to make any final plans.

Dad’s passion was people and this love of helping others is ultimately what made him one of the greatest friends and coaches out there. He has impacted so many through the course of his career as a ten pin bowling coach. Representing Queensland for decades and untimely fulfilling his life long goal of being Australia’s head coach right before his passing. To say we are a proud family is an understatement. And to see how many people he has touched brings us much peace during this excruciating time.

A few people have said “I didn’t know Don’s health was so bad”. And the truth is unfortunately neither did we. This was a new cancer that appeared a mere few weeks ago and caused blood clots and ultimately many strokes at the end. The doctors couldn’t do any more but ease his passing. Don was a warrior and secretly pushing through a lot of pain, especially with his commitment and determination to go to Thailand with the Australian team and reach his life long goal. Due to the extremely aggressive nature of dad’s cancer and the rate at which it ripped him from our arms financial arrangements have not been made or planned for. We have been left heartbroken and unprepared for this new chapter. My mum, Shirley is already dealing with the hardest challenges of her life and it would be incredibly appreciated if those who cared for Don could help relieve some of the financial burdens of becoming a single income household. We all know hard it is to survive in these times and the thing dad cared about most was making sure mum was going to be ok without him.

If you have the capacity to donate some funds to help support Don’s beautiful wife of 45 years Shirley through the hardest chapter of her life, the Lindsay Family would be eternally grateful. Even a few dollars will make an enormous difference as mum navigates this great loss, the love of her life being taken far too soon. We understand things are tight for everyone and would be truly grateful for even the smallest donation to ease some of mums burdens.

We also know that Don had such a huge impact on so many and that brings us great joy to hear how much he meant to you all. A man full of so much life and so much love for others. I know many of you have a story of how Don greatly impacted your life. A great man and coach taken from us far too soon. Forever in our hearts, our Don, The Don our angel in the sky.
