Help support Dr. Steve Barrett’s battle against Cancer

Hi my name is Robyn Nix and we are raising money for my brother-in-law Dr. Steve Barrett’s battle against cancer.

In February 2024 Steve received the shocking diagnosis of Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer. There were no warning, signs, or indications that could have prepared him for this as he has always been extremely healthy. The type of cancer he has is Large Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma, which is extremely rare to be found as a Colorectal tumor. It has metastasized to liver and some pelvic lymph nodes. Steve has been to both Siteman and City of Hope in Chicago, and both were recommending chemotherapy for the purpose of palliative care only.

Traditional care has not offered much hope, so Steve has researched and begun a nontraditional approach at the Hope For Cancer treatment center in Tijuana, Mexico. This approach makes the most sense to him. The Center uses many therapies from around the world that have been successful in building the patient’s immune system and treating cancer. They also offer radiation therapy, surgery, and fractional low-dose chemotherapy when necessary. Steve spent three weeks at the clinic in April. On going treatments will be done at home which requires medical equipment, supplements, IV therapies, and medications. They will then travel every three months to Mexico for new scans and treatments.

Steve has been a Chiropractor and has owned his own practice in Carbondale, Illinois for the past 30 years. He has treated thousands of patients and has had a successful clinic because of his passion and belief in what he does, and his love for his patients. His wife, Rhonda, works alongside him running the clinic while also doing massage therapy. Owning your own business while going through a medical trial such as this is very stressful. There is no such thing as sick days or paid time off.

Steve enjoys spending time with his children, grandchildren, and playing golf with his friends. Steve and Rhonda both share a strong faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Steve knows with certainty that God has a plan and whatever God‘s will is will be better than our own.

Donations to this fund will go directly towards:

Medical cost- high deductible insurance and non-covered services in the plan.

Travel- at least three more trips to Mexico for follow up visits, likely with fractional low-dose chemotherapy treatments not covered by insurance

Therapy equipment still needed

Shots, supplements, IV therapies for the next 3 months

Unexpected time off from work.
