Dear Family, Community, & Friends,

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out in hopes to raise money for my sister and her husband. For just over a year now, they have been (unofficially) fostering a sweet baby girl, protecting her from a very unsafe environment. This was originally meant to be a temporary situation while the baby’s parents attempted to get sober. At the time, she was 6 months old. Unfortunately, over the past year there has been no progress or change from the baby’s birth parents. My sister and her husband have received very little financial help, but have given this baby everything she needs and have loved her as their own, all while welcoming their own baby girl 4 months ago.

Throughout the year, visits have occurred with the birth parents where unsafe actions continued ( i.e. smoking in the car with her, driving with no carseat, no AC in the summer months, spending overnight weekends with nowhere to sleep) to the point that my sister and her husband have decided to get a lawyer and file for full custody to ensure her safety.

I am reaching out, asking for any support, whether it be big or small, to help them cover the escalating cost of lawyer fees. There have been many obstacles and the trial date has now been postponed (again) until the end of 2024. Our family is doing everything we can to provide her a safe and loving home until we know the final outcome of the situation.

Your kindness and generosity will make a meaningful impact on our family and more importantly, this little girl’s future. I sincerely appreciate any assistance you can provide during this challenging time.
