Help Support Edison Wrestling And Our Athletes!!!

The Edison Chargers High School Wrestling Team is working hard to raise funds for the 2022-2023. During the last two years under COVID-19 and its restrictions, it has been extremely difficult to raise funds. Due to COVID-19 our team/athlete numbers were down and we were unable to host our annual and PRIMARY fundraiser, the Beach Bash Wrestling Tournament. Therefore, as a program, we are trying to raise funds in additional ways.

Some of our immediate needs for fundraising are our wrestling mats in the practice room, wrestling/safety equipment, team uniforms and travel expenses for our talented athletes. Our wrestling mats require immediate attention and repair for the safety of our wrestlers, visiting wrestlers and schools/clubs. We are trying our best to raise funds to give the kids, the team, and the program something safe to practice on and something to be proud of when they walk into the wrestling room. The mats have been in the room since 1992 and have rips, tears, and are coming apart in several places.

In order to run a successful program not only do you need great coaching, talented and hardworking kids, but you need the proper equipment. Not being able to run our annual fundraiser for the last two years has deeply impacted our ability to purchase much needed wrestling/safety equipment. During COVID-19 and in between our old coach and new coaching staff, someone removed pieces of equipment including our air assault exercise bike and our crash pad from the room without permission. The crash pad is used for training kids on how to throw and land when we train freestyle and Greco.

Because we host an annual wrestling tournament as a fundraiser we could really use weight scales, timing clocks and table score boards. These were all in the plans prior to COVID-19 but being shut down and not being able to run our annual fundraiser wrestling tournament really set us back.

With a brand new coaching staff and talented kids, comes higher expectations. Our kids, for the first time in several years, are looking to travel out of state for National Tournaments. We have talented kids who are looking to pursue wrestling at the collegiate level and in order to expose them, we need to travel to these tournaments. This year we are hoping to get our kids to travel to Iowa, North Carolina, Vegas, Colorado, and other well-known tournaments across the country. With these out of state tournaments comes additional costs and expenses.

Last but not least, we are trying to purchase new team uniforms for this upcoming season, as we no longer have access to uniforms from years past. With supply and demand issues, we need to order our uniforms during the fall semester so they are ready for our winter tournaments and can guarantee they are ready in time for the High School season.

We are excited about the direction of our program. We have a brand new Head Coach who is a Calvary Chapel (SA) alumni, 4x CA State Qualifier and a 3x CA State Placer. Coach has already made an impact on the team and our wrestlers, getting our lone freshman girl to the CA State Tournament in her first year of wrestling. We recently added two new coaches to our coaching staff: a 2X Minnesota State Champion and Iowa State wrestler along with a stand-out All-American out of Bakersfield. Having a talented coaching staff also takes funds. The Booster Club is responsible for paying the coaching staff during the "Off Season."
