Help Support EIU Students With Emergency Expenses
Donation protected
On the night of August 26th, 5 of our Hermanas y Hermanos found themselves in a hospital undergoing emergency surgeries after a serious car accident took place. Luis, Christian, Ivy, Tyeisha, and Tais are proud members of Alpha Psi Lambda Alpha Eta Chapter at Eastern Illinois University. Now them and their families are faced with medical bills and other emergency expenses. After undergoing such a traumatizing experience, the last thing they should be worried about is how they will be able to pay off such a sudden debt. And so, we as a Chapter are asking for your help to relieve such a financial burden from our Hermanas y Hermanos lives, so that they may be able to focus on their physical and mental healing from this experience.
------
Luis, Christian, Ivy, Tyeisha, and Tais were on their way to support another University Chapter on the night of August 26th. In the late hours of that Friday night, the rest of our chapter members were worried as we were struggling to get ahold of our Hermanas y Hermanos who never made it to their destination. Our worries soon turned into our worst fears as we later got the news that our missing Hermanas y Hermanos ended up in a Trauma 1 medical center after a life-threatening accident.
Parents rushed to the hospital as soon as they could, travelling long distances in order to reach their children. Despite our own emotions during this whole ordeal, we can only imagine how the parents felt having to make such a gut-wrenching trip without knowing the specifics of their children's conditions. As parents started arriving, they were grateful to find their children recovering from surgeries. However, they would soon learn that their children would be facing long recoveries from their extensive injuries. The surgeons mended broken bones, stitched up abrasions, and repaired bleeding arteries. The next day, our Alpha Eta Familia went to visit them. It hurt us all to see our brothers and sisters in such pain. However, we were relieved to know that they all had made it out alive and will recover in time.
Luis, Christian, Ivy, Tyeisha, and Tais all exude positivity and pride in their Latinidad. Many young people on campus and in their communities look to them for inspiration and motivation. They are a source of great pride to their parents as well as us. They are wonderful leaders that always ensure that the people around them are doing well. And they never fail to brighten up someone’s day.

Not long after our visit, we began to consider all of the expenses that were adding up for our brothers and sisters families. All of the parents had to miss days of work and emergency expenses accumulated. And so we are here today, asking for your help.
Your donation will help the families with:
Medical expenses.
Lodging in the city where the hospital is located at.
Daily expenses, such as food.
Future school expenses that students are unable to work and save for.
Our Alpha Eta Familia asks that you remember our Hermanas y Hermanos in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for considering a donation. Dios le Bendiga.
