Help Support Elona and the Weirich Family
Donation protected
Elona Weirich gave birth at home March 9 to a beautiful, healthy baby boy, with her husband and three older children by her side.
One week later, she received a colon cancer diagnosis to the absolute shock of everyone who knows and loves this family.
The baseball-sized tumor has been removed and Elona is healing, but this journey is long from over as they navigate long-term recovery options.
In the meantime, Elona plans to return home to her newborn and enjoy the postpartum snuggles she’d been planning for nine months.
We are hoping to raise $20,000 to help support the Weirich family during this vulnerable time. These funds will allow Elona and Myron some financial security so they can stay home with their family rather that rush back to work. It will also be used to offset medical costs moving forward.
Financial contributions aren’t the only way to help. Prayers, encouraging messages and spreading the word through social sharing makes a big difference too.
Here are words from Elona:
Nobody ever expects to hear the C word. Especially when your 33, healthy, and one week postpartum. After two weeks of severe constipation and absolutely nothing working, I made a second trip to the hospital and told them I wasn’t leaving till they figured out what was wrong. I was one week postpartum and needed answers. After a CT scan and some other procedures, they found what was blocking my colon, a tumor. They right away scheduled surgery for the next morning. The surgeon removed a baseball sized tumor from my colon. Surgery went much better than expected and I am currently recovering.
My babies are in amazing care! What does this look like for us moving forward? We don’t know. But I know my Jesus does! He’s already gone before and prepared the way! Many have reached out asking how they can help……Prayer! We need so many prayers. Standing in agreement with complete healing! Prayer for my sweet babies who are grappling with mama suddenly being gone and knowing something was very wrong. Prayers for my husband who has been there every step of the way and has been so strong for all of us! Practically…..even a bag of groceries dropped off is so so helpful!
There is also a meal train being set up. If you’re not local and want to help with food, there are local restaurants with gift certificates. This fundraising organizer can get you in touch with the food coordinator!
We appreciate and have felt so deeply all the prayers we’ve gotten. The surgeon said he knew he was being prayed for and felt those prayers!
“For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11.
