Help Support Esme in her Missionary Year

Hi there!

 

My name is Esme, I am 24 years old and live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest! And am so excited to share a little about this new season of life I am entering into!

 

After several months of discernment, I have been invited to and committed to serve for a year in Honduras with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal at their home for girls and their home for children with disabilities. Both these orphanages are supported by the friars and a handful of wonderful people that are dedicating their lives to love and raise these children.

 

For those of you who know me, you know that I have spent several years trying to discern where the Lord wants me, and for the first time in a long time, I feel like I am truly doing what God is asking of me. And I have faith that this decision is a step in the right direction in my journey towards Holiness.

 

I am beyond excited and incredibly honored to be able to serve alongside 2 other missionaries, the friars, and the few full time staff at the orphanage starting in JANUARY! There I will be serving in a few different ways. Mainly, us 3 missionaries will be tutoring the girls, we'll be helping with faith formation and sacrament preparation, we'll accompany the girls during recreation and meals, and will help with the daily chores of the home (cooking, cleaning, laundry). We're there to support in whatever way is needed! We have the privilege of being spiritual mothers for these girls!

 

But like anything, I have some expenses I have to cover during the year that I will need to raise by mid January 2022. I will be a full time missionary so will not be working. I will be living with the missionaries in a home some blocks away from the orphanage and will have to cover certain expenses that come with the home.

 

The money that I am raising will go towards covering:

• groceries every week

• wifi for the home to be able to look up resources for schoolwork and to communicate with others

• Insurance for the year

• phone expenses for the year to keep in touch with the staff and family back home

• monthly expenses for the home

• transportation for the year

• flights to and from Honduras

And a number of other expenses that come with full time mission life.
