Help Support Eunice in her fight against Cancer

Hello, we are the family of Eunice Young and we really appreciate you taking the time to read our story of her on going battle with cancer.
Eunice's mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in her early 60's. Eunice then had regular mammograms from the age of 40. In late 2017 she found a lump in her left breast and she informed her doctor. She was sent for a mammogram, then an ultrasound which led to the diagnosis of stage 2 breast cancer in November 2017, at the age of 52. In January of 2018 she underwent a mastectomy of her left breast. This diagnosis was very devastating for her and the family. Recovery was a very long and painful process. Under the direction of her oncologist, she was put on an oral treatment for the cancer for the next 5 years as well as completing blood tests and infusions every 6 months.

In February of 2023, after completing the 5 year plan, she came off the oral treatment as all the blood tests (blood and breast cancer index) showed an all clear.

In June of 2023, Eunice started having sever back pain. Her doctor sent for blood work and x rays which led to CAT scans and ultimately a PET scan which she could not tolerate due to severe pain. Her husband took her directly from the PET scan facility to the closest ER where she was sent for further testing and admitted to the hospital later that same day 10/11/23. The scans showed she had a tumor on her lower spine as well as a fracture and a few compressed discs. She was put on bedrest as there was a threat of paralysis due to the fracture. Moving forward, Eunice had what is called, "thoracic decompression" which in her case was the removal of parts of her spine that were replaced with cadaver bones, rods, and pins. After resolving some of her back issues with the surgery, they did a biopsy from the tumor which confirmed her cancer had metastasized and radiation was needed to target the tumor. This left her wearing a full torso brace and needing to receive other medication to help with side effects that were making her very sick. Another PET scan was scheduled to show if further treatment was needed. Unfortunately, this scan showed that her cancer has metastasized into her bones - her upper spine, pelvis and both hips. Following this diagnosis, Eunice will be starting an oral chemo pill treatment and bi-weekly shots in both hips of an additional chemo treatment in January 2024. She is hoping to gain the strength to start the chemo and fight this stage 4 diagnosis with everything she has!

Thank you for taking a moment to read about Eunice's story. Due to the high cost of continuing unexpected expenses, any monetary donations we receive will be greatly appreciated. We also hope that you would please pass this along to your family and friends.
