Help support FAMU Coach James Spady’s Recovery

“On August 27th, Florida A&M Football Coach, James Spady, experienced a medical incident during the FAMU vs UNC football game which caused him to lose his vision. He was taken to the UNC Memorial Hospital following the game and admitted to ICU where he remained in the North Carolina ICU for 7 days and another 2 days in a step down unit before being released on September 5th. His wife Barbara had been in Arizona working to contribute to the family’s finances and helping her mother who is having some health issues as well. She flew to North Carolina immediately to stay with James and eventually bring him home to Tallahassee. As of now, the prognosis for the return of Coach Spady’s vision is unknown. He has been told it could be 6 months before it’s restored. He has appointments with specialists lined up as well as other medical tests to learn more about his prognosis and to improve his health. The Spadys will have many upcoming challenges due to these circumstances, including a loss of Barbara’s income as she is unable to work because she currently is staying home with Coach Spady full time. All money raised will go towards helping the Spady family during this challenging time for expenses such as medical costs, medications, home modifications to help Coach, medical tests, future eye surgeries, etc.
The Spady family greatly appreciates all contributions and prayers during this difficult time.
